I am going to be far, far away from that mean old internet for a long time.

Well, two weeks. But it feels like a long time.

I’m going to be on Vanua Levu, Fiji. Which is not exactly off the coast of Java but I liked the title anyway.

There, I shall be scuba diving, and scuba diving, and sometimes, eating, drinking, sleeping. But mostly, I’ll be scuba diving.

This trip is my first to Fiji. My first to the south pacific, at least if you don’t count Hawaii in that.

This is also my first family dive trip. Barb and Olivia just got certified. Wish us luck, and hope we all come home unbent, and more importantly, not having killed each other. I’m proud of them. They worked hard to get certified for this trip. They’re going to be great divers, at least if they take after me.

I very much doubt that I’ll be able to get to the internet while I’m there. If I can, it’s my gmail account I’ll be looking at. But don’t hold your breath.

My plan is to keep a journal while I’m there. It will be posted here when I get back in mid-August.

–EDIT– Read that journal at: https://www.moronosphere.com/fiji/

Meanwhile:

  • Go read the blogs linked on the side bar. These people all deserve your attention.
  • Go make something. Paint. Write. Play a tune. Make a baby. Cook something really really yummy.
  • Don’t do anything I wouldn’t do.

I don’t know how I can miss people who are already far away, but I will miss some of you. Some more than others. Some a lot more than others.

See you all in around the middle of August.

  1. I was in Fiji briefly, on my way to Samoa. They wouldn’t let me out of the airport, but it looked truly beautiful out the windows.

  2. Yeah, what Circe said! I keep popping and checking this damn thing, hoping that maybe you stumbled drunkenly in some Fijian internet cafe and decided to say “Hi.” And day after day, bitter, bitter disappointment.

This blows. I demand that you never, ever go on vacation again. Unless you bring me. And Circe.

  3. Thanks Circe! Yours is awesome as well — I admire your honesty. You kick ass.

Karl, can’t wait to see the posts — make sure we get some new pics!
