If I’m not particularly communicative, that’s why. I’m finding the basic tasks of computation frustrating. You get spoiled, I find, having a really good computer.

Evidently my boss is working on getting me a decent machine but not ETA.

Grumble. Grumble.

  1. Ok, lemme get this straight.

You work for a company that *makes* computers, right?

And they can’t find you the top of the line computer right now? This second? Yesterday?

    WTF?

  2. you see, when a company makes computers, people in the company tend to get what’s left over for internal use. At least with brand-new products. if i wanted an old g4 desktop or a gooseneck imac, i could find a dozen. I don’t want crap, i want the good shit. So that takes some finagle.

  3. So what/who do you have to do for an iMac G5? Pretty sweet little machines…not a G5 tower or MacBook Pro, but any of them with a ton of RAM’s a pretty spiffy machine.

The tradeoff for having a department that wants to slowly get RID of all their Macs is that now I almost have my pick of any machine I’d want–finally upgraded from a 867MHz PBG4/Superdrive to a 1GHz PBG4 with a gig of RAM. I’m happy.

But once you have a great machine, you hate going back to crap…so I feel your pain.

  4. Yeah the g5 imac rocks. Fast, great screen, and how often do you hear ‘where’s the, uh, the computer?’. That’s the one i suggest for most users for home. But I’m hooked on a laptop now, can’t live without portable, wireless computing.
