What I work on, can I have one?

It takes a lot of sexy to make me lust for a computer. Now, lusting after the flesh and blood, well, you know about that. And lusting after certain inanimate or mechanical objects, sure. I mean, look at my obsession with skull rings, or something like the car from Supernatural. But computers – well, you […]

Now, lusting after the flesh and blood, well, you know about that. And lusting after certain inanimate or mechanical objects, sure. I mean, look at my obsession with skull rings, or something like the car from Supernatural.

But computers – well, you know, I’ve never owned a computer. I have one, but it’s a tool for work and pleasure, it belongs to my employer, and that’s fine. I’ve always gotten by with what I can scrounge from work.

For the first time ever, I looked at this machine and said to myself (Self, I said), I want that.

The new Apple MacBook Pro:

MacBook Pro

This is the outcome of the super secret product I couldn’t talk about last summer. This is what my team have been working on – the intel based macs – since April. And it’s cool to see it come out, and even cooler to think, this thing we make, it’s good and I want it.

  1. Yup…yupyupyup…once I read about the MacBook on MacCentral’s live updates, I ALMOST forgave Steve for not streaming the keynote.

Metis, I feel for ya…I’m stuck working for a PC-centric technology director that’ll have snowball fights on the ninth ring before he buys me another Mac! 🙁

(clinging desparately to his 12′ PowerBook)

  2. Ahem.
As someone who has been on DOS and then Win computers since the early early days (8080 was my first), I’ve often … i won’t say wanted a mac, but I’ve certainly looked at them.

Now this one? I want. WANT… like I want sex like I want a fine wine or a really good vodka like I want really excellent music like I want a gorgeous house and a really nice car like I want to win the lottery, I want this machine.

    You have a hit m’dear.

  3. chelsea, I think you’re right. We just need to get a zip code in common as well.

DN, some day you’ll have yourself a real computer. I’m a Unix guy all the way and OSX and and Apple Powerbook made me a convert.

Spck, it actually doesn’t use a battery. It is powered by lust. Which is another way of saying, I have no idea, we’ll soon see. It ships next month. Which doesn’t mean I’ll get one, since I’m in line behind a whole lot of directors and managers unless I wanna plunk down the cash.

  4. All Apple computers are powered by lust. That’s why so many sex bloggers use them.

Sigh…I overcame my continuing lust affair with Apples about half a year ago and went back for more…got a G4 powerbook then. If I’d only held out longer, it could have been so much better…

(but it’s still pretty damn good. love my powerbook. caressing it right now.)
