Does MT have one of those neat-o comment verification applets like Blogger uses? It’s one of those graphics things where it shows a bunch of distorted letters which you then need to type in in order to submit a comment. I turned on that feature in Blogger and my comment spam dropped to almost nothing, instantly. Haven’t had one since….
Favors are good. We all need more favors.
Gregg, I hate the graphic verification thing – I imagine eventually someone will write a plugin to do that, or MT will add it, but they generally rely on a blacklist system that looks up spammers and won’t accept posts from them. It works reasonably well, but fails now and then when spammers get clever.
You can also use outside comment systems like haloscan.
But I’m ok with the moderation. And when the girls start sending me panties as payment, I’ll be even happier with it.
