Or it could be that to them God's punishment simply is so bad in their mind that any human punishment seemed beside the point, so it never crossed their mind.
I suppose these particular people on screen *are* thinking like Christians are "supposed to." They want to stop what they percieve as murder, but they believe in compassion for the "sinners" who commit it. So it would stand to reason punishment wouldn't be the aim for them, enforcing "thou shalt not kill" proactively would.
Not that I think all anti-abortion activists are consistent in their supposedly Christian views, and of course nor do I agree with their views, but given where they're coming from, they make predicatable sense.

(I meant ONLY the people on screen's veiw points made "predictable sense" given their religious orientation, not all pro-lifers)
