The downside of telecommuting

The church a block away from here always plays a lovely tune on their church bell speakers at noon. You can hear it all over the neighborhood; it reminds me of when I was a kid, living only a block away from St. Andrews in Algiers, hearing their church bells every day. It's so cute and quaint and comforting..

Except for today.

They're playing goddamn "Kumbayah".

St. Patrick's over on Camp has been heavy on the bells lately, as well. Reminds me of school...

(And you know, I went to "camp" at St. Andrews' in the summertime years ago, and I have no recollection of their bells.)

Agh! I went to St. Andrew's summer camp too! Basically summer day care, but we got to go bowling every Friday at least.

Oh, and I think St. Andrews used to play the pretty songs in the evening, around 6:30.

Hmm. I don't remember bowling, but I do remember lots of swimming. We didn't go that much, just a week or two in the summer to get us out of my mom's hair.

Ever hear the Guadalcanal Diary version? I actually like it.

Probably did back in the day, but there are huge gaps in my memory. I need to dig out all my old KTRU playlists from the 80s.
