Movie meme
Updated: Another quote for #6.
Updated: All done. Clearly it was too easy.
I give. It's not like I've been posting anything else, and Hiromi, Karl, Syl, and DN have got me hooked on this movie quiz thingy.
Fifteen movie quotes. Guess the movie the quote is from. Answer in the comments. First one with the right answer gets fame and/or fortune and/or a cookie. (Note: being mentioned on my blog counts as fame.) For bonus points, tell me the actor and the character name.
And no cheating. Yes, Google and IMDB and anything else like it are cheating.

3. "Oh...you are sick."
Eraserhead, eh.

15. "Are they slow-moving, chief?" "Yeah, they're dead. They're all messed up."
The Night of the Living Dead. Done.

11. The Commitments :D
Posted by: darkneuro at March 31, 2008 4:53 PM
#1 is GlenGarry Glen Ross. Love that movie.
Posted by: ttrentham at March 31, 2008 5:39 PM
And #13 is Beneath the Planet of the Apes. I confess to having to double-check the title. I knew it was the second one, however.
Posted by: ttrentham at March 31, 2008 5:41 PM
Oooh!
#8: Lost in Translation. Don't know the character name, they didn't give her one. "Random female translator?" The character's name she was saying it to was Mr. Bob Harris. (Bill Murray)
#10--and you SO rock for choosing this--
Singing in the Rain. Uttered in soft dulcet tones by the character Lena Lamont.
"No, no, no!" "Yes, yes, yes!"
God, I love that film.

#2 is bugging me. It's on the edge of my memory.
Posted by: Miss Syl at March 31, 2008 7:24 PM
14 HAS to be billy jack.
Posted by: elvis at March 31, 2008 7:30 PM
Karl, you are a true child of the 70s.
Syl, I'm glad somebody got SitR. That movie fucking rocks.
And I can't believe Hiromi got one of the two that I thought would be impossible, because it was barely even dialog, it was background noise in an intense action scene. There's one more up there of that nature, too.
I think my list was too easy. They're almost all done after only half a day.
Posted by: Ray at March 31, 2008 7:40 PM
I was raised by musical theater fanatics. I've seen SIR a billion times. And I *loved* the character of Lena as a kid. Thought she was a total hoot.
I googled #2 so I can't say it. But dammit, I should have known that one.

"Karl, you are a true child of the 70s."
[raises fist in the air]
I had that same hat. But before the movie came out!

5. The Good, The Bad and the Ugly.

"I walk into someone's place of work, they shit scared. They know I'm not a cop. Think I've come to kill 'em."
Light, talking to Otto, in Repo Man.
/put your seat belt on...

Awesome.
Three more. One is a pretty obscure quote from a movie every one of you has seen, one is a pretty popular cult classic, and one is a recent movie that I thought was gonna be *easy*.
I'll throw out more clues around lunchtime.
Posted by: Ray at April 1, 2008 7:05 AM
2. "No. It means I was drunk yesterday."
Jack Black, School of Rock.
Posted by: mikesmiley at April 1, 2008 7:39 AM
#4 is Barry from Close Encounters of the Third Kind.
Posted by: Chilly Bill at April 1, 2008 8:38 AM
Chilly Billy!
I can't believe you of all people don't know number 6.
Posted by: Ray at April 1, 2008 8:46 AM
And I can't believe Hiromi got one of the two that I thought would be impossible, because it was barely even dialog, it was background noise in an intense action scene.
To me, that line was very striking in its pathos.
My excuse for not knowing #8 was that I was paying attention to the Japanese, not the English. :(
Posted by: Hiromi at April 1, 2008 2:23 PM
#6 Bridge over the river Kwai? No, they blow that one up. It's some WWII movie that escapes me (not the great escape either). :\
Posted by: Jeffrey j Hoover at April 1, 2008 2:34 PM
Nope, Jeffrey, but you're warm.
I'm adding another quote from the same character.
Posted by: Ray at April 1, 2008 2:53 PM
For #6, I'd have to say Kelly's Heros but I can't remember who said it.
Posted by: Chilly Bill at April 1, 2008 3:42 PM
Yeah, that's it. Both quotes were Oddball (Donald Sutherland).
Posted by: Ray at April 1, 2008 4:00 PM
But how do you make it harder? Or are we (they) just cheating?
