Gumbo party
K-Ville. The gumbo party. Everybody thinks "how stupid! Those writers ain't from here. We don't have gumbo parties. We have parties, we have parties where there is gumbo, we have crawfish boils, we have all kinds of celebrations, but who ever heard of a gumbo party?" Hell, Loki and I keep threatening to have a maque choux cookoff party, but that's different.
Myself, I think, "why the fuck didn't I think of that?" What a great idea. Gumbo party.
It helps you think.
We got two frozen ones from Langenstein's tonight, one seafood and one chicken and andouille. Was aight. We hope to make this a more elaborate tradition in the future. I'll have to cook it on Sunday because Monday is just not a day designed for gumbo. Not unless you already got stock in the freezer.
Whether I watch K-Ville though depends on what happens in the next 10 minutes of the Indians/Yankees game.

I always take a trip to Langenstein's when I'm in town and bring some frozen goodness home. It's too damn expensive to try and assemble everything I need for a decent gumbo (among other dishes) here, so it's become a "special occasion" thing. Sad, really. But for a few short weeks after I get back from a visit home I'm one happy person with a stocked freezer.

You don't have stock in the freezer? I just moved and I have stock in the freezer. I always have SOME stock in the freezer.
Of course, you could just be too busy to put up stock... I can understand that (I've been known to keep carcasses frozen for months until I get time to do stock).
Gumbo party. I can get behind that.

Well, since my wife is a veggie I rarely have carcasses lying around, unless I buy whole fish. Maybe I'll do some this weekend just to get ready for the holidays.

Though the idea of Gumbo Parties seems appropo for watching a fantasy Fox drama, Monday night is always red beans & rice night for those in the NOLA World.
Now if K-Ville actually becomes more interesting and realistic, I'll throw a Gumbo Party at the Starlight and make a shrimp gumbo that will blow your minds.

The show is garbage! Somebody make Chris Rose stop writing about it. I am hungry though.

It's a cop show on FOX. You were expecting art?
It might be crap, but it's fun crap. I'm gonna keep watching it.

Incorrect. It is crap. Heinous crap.
In other news, I made roast beef po-boys Saturday. At home!

We're gonna have a gumbo party tonight!
All right!
We got nothing better to do.
