Great picture, Ray. I still can't believe he's gone. I miss him too. Sheee-it.

Lisa Pal took the picture, at the first Geek Dinner at Alan's place the day I moved back to New Orleans. That was the first night I actually met the man in person.

I don't think I can bear this. It's too much.

I know you loved him, Ray. Hang in there, man. I know Ashley was your great friend and a kindred spirit.

Peace.

One minute at a time if you have to.

I feel incredibly sad to have lost this vibrant, funny, smart man from this world--and I didn't even know Ashley beyond his comments on your posts and his blog. I can only imagine how hard it must be to have known him in person and have lost him. Big, BIG hugs to you right now, Mr. Ray. Hang in there as best you can.

I am profoundly sad; sad for Hana and the children, and sad for NOLA, who has lost a great advocate for the city.

I went to bed early last night and missed the first note on the listserv, so only just learned this morning when I got to work. I keep crying and just want to leave and jump on an airplane. I'm so sorry Ray. I know your heart is broken. You are held dearly in mine always, but especially right now.

This was the first thing I read this morning. You can help pick up where he left off. Peace

I can't even breathe right now and can only imagine what you're going through. Call me anytime night or day.

What an unspeakable loss.

We can feel lucky just to have known him and traveled in his sphere for the short time that we did. Grieve now, but not for long -- he wouldn't approve. We'll need strength to turn the page and honor him by helping Hana and the kids.

Thinking of you and all his friends, Ray. Hold on tight.

A.

I loved seeing one of of ya'll had posted something at NPac. Not just for the posts themselves, but because it was CERTAIN that whichever of you had posted, the other one was going to make at least one, if not more, funny/deep/snarky/obscene/smartass/fond remarks in the comment section. That give and take between the two of you was a joy to read.

Take it easy.

Thanks for posting, man. I needed that pic.

I am so sorry, Ray. I only knew Ashley through his comments here, but what wonderful comments they were, indicative of a bright, funny and wonderful man.

My heart goes out to you and to those who knew and love him. Hang in there, hon.

*huge hugs*

I'm so sorry, man.

Am thinking of you todat Ray. Many hugs

Like others, I didn't know him personally, but from what I could see of him online, he was so vital, funny, and intelligent. What a horrible loss; the world needs far more people who "got it" like he did. I know how much you cared for him. Much love to you.

Dammit. So sorry to hear this news, Ray. I really enjoyed Ashley's comments on your blog. Hang in there bud.
