Anne Rice: Do you know what it means to lose New Orleans?

A history lesson, and a moral lesson. Yeah, the vampire shit drives me nuts sometimes, but Anne Rice loves her city.

But to my country I want to say this: During this crisis you failed us. You looked down on us; you dismissed our victims; you dismissed us. You want our Jazz Fest, you want our Mardi Gras, you want our cooking and our music. Then when you saw us in real trouble, when you saw a tiny minority preying on the weak among us, you called us "Sin City," and turned your backs. Well, we are a lot more than all that. And though we may seem the most exotic, the most atmospheric and, at times, the most downtrodden part of this land, we are still part of it. We are Americans. We are you.

Read the whole thing here.

New Orleans was a city of sin and I had prayed that it would be destroyed, for the last few years. I do not feel sorry for any of them. If you live with evil, don't ask or demand that Christians help you, ask your father satin.

Anne, you try to appear a a christian, but you are one of satin's children as I read what you have to say. This country was founded by christians and if you do not like it, go to another country.

gotta love the minority "christians" who try to have a big voice and make the rest of us want to go by any other name...

Hoo boy -- youg ot a live one there, Ray! One question: Is it satin or Sateen? Or maybe he's saying that Anne Rice is the child of a fabulous drag queen? So confused.

I don't have time for fake Christians who are busy at their keyboards while the shelters are understaffed.

Y'all have fun with him. Dumbass included his email address when he posted, which gives his full name. Maybe I can share it, sic the gators on him.

Hi my name is Robyn, I am 17 years old and I am from the New Orleans area...I refuse to believe you people call yourself Christians, simply because Christians are not suppose to be spiteful or vindictive..I thought Christianity was about helping out fellow man regardless of how they live? Maybe I was wrong..Maybe you should redefine your views of yourself and who you really are. You call New Orleans "Sin City" when there is sin everywhere in the world. This angers me because we are all Americans. And while you say America was founded on Christianity..It is also founded on Freedom of Religion. Maybe you should read the constitution and open your views a little. It's sad to have a 17 year old girl to tell you this, but I think you are an ignorant arrogant person..I'll never pray that anything like this happen to anyone, because I know how it feels...it has ruined my life. So thank you very much for letting me have this opportunity to tell thw world what I think.

Ray, you're suddenly picking up some really odd comments, man..

I'm replying to Mike but this is intended for anyone that would wish for such a thing. I hope God has more mercy on your soul than Hurricanes Katrina and Rita had on my home state of LA and my current one of MS,New Orleans took a hard hit,my hometown of Chalmette has been destroyed, and the MS Gulf Coast looks like a literal warzone,i have seen this with my own eyes and that is the only way i can think to put it into my own words,no person or place is perfect so when you are free of ALL sin and vice please, cast the first stone and make sure you hit one of the victims that don't have a home anymore due to these horrible events. I got the chance to work at a Red Cross shelter one day in September and meet people that were grateful when you handed them food. I really hope God is better to you than that because you don't know what you say unless you have been through it and I'm sure you would feel differently had you lost your home or loved ones. God bless everyone no matter who big or small, witness, victim, volunteer, cynic, family,it doesn't matter,I hope we all see the light and feel God's mercy and love one day.
