Pascal’s Manale

I was googling Pascal’s Manale since it’s going to be our local joint when we move, just a couple of blocks away from the house. I fat-fingered the name, though, and typed “pascales manale”, and of course the first link I find is the one that has pictures of their mold remediation last November.
For comparison, this is what they’re supposed to look like.
Word is they’re now open. And I’m coming for you, my little Creole Italian darling. It will be soon.

Yum. (The food, not the mold.)

I recently got an email from Mat and Naddie’s and they’re open again, finally. A live oak cut their place in half. I love their gumbo. Yum, yum. I’m glad to hear Pascal’s is open again too. We had good times there and now we will again.

Will the blog title change after you move?

Cool. You’ll be neighbors with my son. Of course, I don’t know if that’s such a good thing or not, ’cause he’s living with three other (male) Loyola students. Sorry. The good news is that my darlin’ son works at Manale’s. He loves it. I won’t send him the mold remediation photos. Still, if you go there, look for the real smart looking, kind of short, dark, curly headed busboy and tell him Sophmom sent you. ;)

Oyster: Yeah, it’ll have to change. I’m vacillating between “Ray in New Orleans” or “The Other Ray”.
Sophmom: It’ll probably be our first dinner out as a family once we move in, so I’ll look for him. Don’t worry, we tip well. ;)
We’ve been living right next to UT for 6 years now so we’re used to having student neighbors, but I think all our immediate neighbors are doctors and perfessers. (Of the medical & university variety, not the piano-playing kind.)

This is what he says to me about the location of his house relative to Manale’s: “I could hit it with a rock from the front porch, if I had a better arm.” I haven’t seen where he lives now (except via Google Earth) and I haven’t been to NOLA since It Happened, but I’m planning to go in the next few weeks. I’ve been missing him. *sigh* You let me know if you see them misbehaving! ;)

We’re in the next block, then. And if they keep us up at night, I’ll just tie a note to a rock that says “I’m telling your mom” and I’ll see if I can hit his front porch from my front porch.

Pascal Manale’s was my brother’s wife’s favorite restaurant when they were both in school at Tulane. If I remember right, BBQ shrimp was one of the specialties. It was so messy they gave you a bib.
