Gov. Kathleen Blanco warned this week that the state would not support future offshore lease sales in the Gulf of Mexico unless Louisiana gets a share of the federal royalties generated by oil production there.

Yup! High darned time, too!
Uhhhh… I thought Louisiana’s federal offshore oil leases were the REASON why I still have five-digit student loans to pay off.
Seems to me the oil bust that drove my parents and most of the middle class out of town looking for work was tied directly to the fall in oil proces and thus the drop in state revenue.
I am in favor, however, of the bitches freezing in the dark. I also think they can eat everyone’s student loans and choke on ‘em.
