The black is ink, not dirt.
This is right when they were completed – they will never again have the same color vibrance.

Did you shave your feet?
JJH, yeah, the area to be tattooed is always shaved, and cleaned throughly with antiseptic. Some Some tattooists always shave the area, no matter how hairless it looks, some only do it if they feel it’s needed.
